Terpenes are organic compounds found in cannabis. When cannabis is stored without a terpene shield, terpenes immediately begin to evaporate—even in a sealed airtight container. Without a terpene shield in a container or package of cannabis flower, it continuously loses its terpenes—and with it, up to 40% of its desired aromas, flavors and effectiveness. And once cannabis terpenes evaporate, they are permanently gone.
To save terpenes, cannabis companies store and package cannabis with Boveda’s patented 2-way humidity control. Boveda is the only product that can create a monolayer shield of purified water over the trichome to safeguard terpenes until the flower is ground by the consumer. When this happens, the aroma, flavor and effect of cannabis is secured.
Boveda’s patented salt water solution in its packaging membrane works quickly and precisely to create and maintain this monolayer shield faster and longer than any other product on the market.
